Radiology is at a breaking point. Advancing medical technologies and an aging global population are increasing the demand for radiological services—faster than the system can handle (RSNA). In the United States, over 62% of radiologists report symptoms of burnout (EJR Open). In Germany, the number is even higher, at 76.7% (PD Dr. Stephan Ellmann).
Radiologists today face a growing imbalance between expectations and capacity. Many departments struggle with longer working hours, after-hours obligations, and an ever-increasing case load—all while striving to maintain diagnostic precision. One department chair from the U.S. East Coast described the situation bluntly: “On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we go home leaving hundreds of CT scans unread.”
These aren’t isolated anecdotes—they reflect a broader, global challenge. In India, for example, there is only one radiologist per 100,000 people, about one-tenth the ratio in the U.S. (Medical Buyer). In conversations with PRMSE, radiologists consistently say the same: “We need all the help we can get.” From report turnaround times to competing academic and clinical duties, the pressure is mounting—and support is overdue.
PRMSE is responding to that call. We’re building solutions that ease administrative burden, streamline diagnostic workflows, and help radiologists focus on what truly matters: high-quality, patient-centered care.

Advancing technology and an aging population are outgrowing the capacity of radiologists¹.
Over 62% of radiologists in the United States report burn-out symptoms².
In Germany: 76.7% report burn-out³
Radiologists are under more pressure to maintain a high level of accuracy while dealing with a substantially higher number of cases.
Longer workdays with more after-hours obligations, higher expectations for report turnaround times, competing time demands (clinical, academic, administrative) and insufficient personnel.
This situation is similar across the globe. India for example with ist 1.4B inhabitants has one of the lowest number of radiologists per capita, 1/10th of the United States number⁴.

Radiologists share with PRMSE that „they need all the help they can get“ in reducing their workload and thus the stress from this overburdened situation.
„On Tuesdays and Thursdays we go home leaving hundreds of CT scans unread,“ stated an East Coast Chairman of Radiology recently.
